Visitor Facilities

Cairns Tropical Zoo offers visitors a range of facilities to make their visit more comfortable and enjoyable:

• "Koala Café" on the deck is a licenced cafe providing coffee, snacks and meals.
• "Outback Café" caters for group breakfasts and lunches (up to 150 people - pre booking essential). Group menus are available on request.
• "Breakfast Time At The Zoo" is from 8.30am for groups, and 9.00am for self drive visitors, and bookings recommended.
• Large souvenir and gift shop
• All pathways, show presentations and exhibits are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair accessible toilet facilities are also available.
• Ample free parking for cars and coaches

Zoo Shop

Cairns Tropical Zoo’s retail buyer thinks they have the best job in the world and many visitors would agree. The Zoo Shop is an Aladdin’s Cave for all ages and nationalities.

Plush animals including the popular kangaroos and koalas, plus there are games, educational toys, clothing and quality gift lines - you’re sure to uncover something perfect for a memento here because our large, air-conditioned shop specialises in Australian and locally made quality products.

The Zoo Shop stocks and sells Cairns Tropical Zoo’s own promotional line of coffee mugs, t-shirts, key rings, stubby coolers, etc, plus you can purchase a Gift Voucher (these make great presents).

The Zoo Shop is open daily from 9:30am to 4:00pm.

Disabled Facilities

Cairns Tropical Zoo ensures there are no barriers to enjoyment with all facilities incorporating easy access design. All of the shows and exhibits - in fact everything at the Zoo - is wheelchair accessible.

There is a wheelchair available on site (at no charge/complimentary) for visiting guests, however we suggest you call in advance to reserve it.

If you are visiting and in a wheelchair, you can arrive either by the Sunbus service or in an adapted Black & White taxi "Maxi Cab". Phone 07 4057 7411 for Sunbus or 131008 for Black & White Taxis.

Once you are here, extra wide pathways make access easy, the restaurant has strong timber ramps and there’s ample room in a specially designed unisex wheelchair toilet.
